We, as the Gold Coast & Hamburg Historic District Association, are dedicated to preserving the built heritage of Davenport’s First Neighborhood.

Additionally, we collect its histories providing context and understanding of the great importance of this district.

Because all great neighborhoods are made up of people, families, and friends, we organize and sponsor events to bring people together, support the association, and become a more powerful voice within the community.

1. City/Association Working Together
   • Neighborhood liaison to City, concerning any mutual community issues
   • City liaison on maintenance projects, keeping neighborhood informed on relevant City projects
   • Adopt-a-Light – City take over lighting bills on City property, as Western Ave.
   • Billboard removal/spruce up lot at 5th & Gaines (20)
2. Infrastructure Repair and Improvement
   • Fix retaining walls
   • Brick pavement and alley repair
   • Improved lighting
   • Sidewalk repair
   • Curb replacement
   • Buildings landmarked locally (+ write endorsement statement)
   • Removal of weed trees
   • Brown St. Hill project
   • Scott St. Steps project
3. Expanded organizational finance
   • Increase membership
   • Obtain grants for façade/curb appeal, etc. (&4)
   • Find additional funding sources
4. Improved quality of housing stock
   • Negligent Property Owners
   • Enforcement of minimum maintenance laws
   • Eliminate city owned rentals
   • Incentives to reduce density from multi to single
   • Saving abandoned properties (+statement of support for positive City policy)
   • Down zoning
